About the Add Header and Footer to PDF

Add Header and Footer PDF draws separate text labels near the top and bottom of selected pages. Each label has independent left, centre, or right alignment, while font size, colour, and edge margin apply to both.

Templates support {n}, {total}, {filename}, and {date} tokens. The tokens resolve separately for each page, and a page-range field can target part of the document rather than every page.

Labels use embedded Helvetica and are added as PDF text without rasterizing the source. The current date is generated at creation time, and long text can overlap page content or extend beyond the available width.

Frequently asked questions

Which tokens are supported?
{n} is the source page number, {total} is the document page count, {filename} is the base file name, and {date} is the current date.
Can header and footer align differently?
Yes. Each has its own left, centre, or right alignment.
Can I use different text on different page groups?
One run uses one header and footer template; process separate page ranges in separate copies if wording must differ.
Does the tool reserve blank margin space?
No. It draws over the existing page, so review possible overlap.
Are source pages rasterized?
No. Text labels are added to the existing PDF pages.
