Quickstart

Make a working API call in a few minutes. Every endpoint uses the same bearer authentication, JSON request body and predictable response envelope.

Before you begin

You need an API key and any HTTP client. Create a free developer account, verify your email, then create a labeled key from the dashboard. Keep the key server-side—never expose it in public browser code or a repository.

Make your first request

curl -X POST https://toolsonduty.com/api/v1/hash \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer <your-api-key>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"text":"hello"}'

Replace the placeholder key with your own. All endpoint URLs begin with https://toolsonduty.com/api/v1/.

Read the response

{
  "ok": true,
  "data": {
    "sha256": "2cf24dba5fb0a30e..."
  }
}

Successful calls return { ok: true, data }. Failed calls return { ok: false, error }. See responses and errors for status codes and failure handling.

Credits are deducted only after an endpoint completes successfully. Malformed JSON, invalid parameters, authentication failures, and internal processing failures do not consume credits.

Try it live

Your key stays in this page's memory and is sent only with the request you initiate.

Try it

Runs a real request from your browser to your own ToolsOnDuty account. Your key is only kept in this page and is never stored.
