About the Flatten PDF
Flatten PDF offers two materially different workflows. Form-field flattening makes AcroForm values permanent while keeping the rest of the document as PDF text, vectors, and links.
Complete flattening renders every page at a fixed scale and embeds it as a JPEG. This removes forms, links, layers, and selectable content, with an adjustable image-quality control from 55 to 100 percent.
Neither mode modifies the source file. Complete flattening is more memory intensive and should not be confused with cryptographic protection; it creates fixed page images but does not encrypt the PDF.
Key features
- Form-only flattening
- Complete page rasterization mode
- Adjustable JPEG quality for complete flattening
- First-page preview
- Progress for rasterized output
- Separate output filenames for each mode
- Local browser processing
How to use
- 1Upload the PDF and review its first page.
- 2Choose Flatten form fields when only AcroForm values need to become permanent.
- 3Choose Complete flatten when all interactive and selectable page content should become images.
- 4For complete flattening, set image quality and consider device memory.
- 5Flatten the PDF and inspect the downloaded copy before discarding any editable original.

- Does form flattening rasterize pages?
- No. It flattens AcroForm fields while retaining other text, links, and vector content.
- What does complete flatten remove?
- It rebuilds pages as images, removing selectable text, links, forms, and layer behavior.
- Does flattening encrypt the file?
- No. Neither mode adds a password or cryptographic access control.
- Can complete flatten reduce quality?
- Yes. It uses JPEG page images, and the quality slider controls the trade-off.
- Will every unusual form flatten correctly?
- Unsupported security or form features can fail; verify values and appearances in the downloaded copy.
