About the Edit PDF

Edit PDF is a visual overlay editor for adding text, images, rectangles, ellipses, and freehand drawing to individual pages. Objects can be selected, moved, resized, reordered, rotated, restyled, deleted, and managed with undo and redo.

The Edit existing text mode detects selectable text positions and creates editable replacement overlays. Existing detected images can likewise be selected and replaced. The original source content is covered with a chosen colour and a new object is drawn above it; the tool does not rewrite the original PDF text stream.

Saving draws editor objects onto copied PDF pages, preserving the base page rather than rasterizing the whole document. Detection can miss unusual fonts, vectorized text, masks, inline graphics, or complex PDF image operators, so every edited page must be visually reviewed.

Rendering, detection, image decoding, and editing happen locally. Complex PDFs and many high-resolution overlays can be limited by browser memory, and this is not a redaction or certificate-signing workflow.

Examples

Correct a visible label
Input: Selectable text label replaced with new Helvetica text over a white cover
Output: Edited PDF with an overlay correction

Zoom in and verify that the cover fully hides the old label.

Add review artwork
Input: One rectangle, one image, and a freehand note on page 3
Output: New PDF with vector and image overlays

Frequently asked questions

Does existing-text editing rewrite the original text object?
No. It covers the detected source bounds and places replacement text above them.
Can every PDF image be detected?
No. Complex masks, vectors, unusual operators, or unsupported image objects may not be selectable.
Is this suitable for redaction?
No. Use Redact PDF when underlying sensitive content must become unrecoverable.
Are edited pages rasterized?
No. The source pages are retained and editor objects are drawn onto them.
Does it support certificate signatures or form schema editing?
No. Use specialized signing and form tools for those workflows.
How much undo history is kept?
The editor retains a bounded recent history rather than an unlimited record.
